FAQ #8: What does deviantART consider to be Art Theft?
Generally speaking any submission which is directly built upon the existing work of another artist or photographer can be considered to be a case of art theft. These works may feature screenshots, official artwork or sprites taken from a video game, scans from an art book, artwork found on a website somewhere on the internet or a photograph of a famous person (just to name a few examples), but in every case the 'seed image' is the legal property of another artist. In many cases these 'seed images' are manipulated, colored over, blended with other images, and otherwise digitally worked over but none of this makes the use acceptable or allowed.

FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?
According to the deviantART Submission Policy you must obtain written permission from the proper and legal owner of any material which is not one of your own original creations.

Please follow our official guidelines for providing this written permission for staff verification. Be aware that failure to provide such permission, or providing permissions which cannot be verified, will lead to the immediate removal of the submission.

Artists who fail to adhere to these rules and who consistantly submit third party materials without the knowledge or permission of the proper owner of the materials will receive administrative action. This may include removing your artwork from deviantART, the possible purging of your Gallery and Scrapbook, and the possible banning of your account with or without prior warning.

You can NOT use art by other people in your submissions as stated in the sections I left in the previous comment. The ONLY time you can use the work of another artist is when you have WRITTEN proof from the original artist.

Hi! Hab dich leider grad über eine Gruppe für Art Theft gefunden. Was du hier machst, ist nicht in Ordnung. Daß die Dinge, die Du hochgeladen hast, nicht deiner eigenen Hände Werk sind, kann ein Blinder sehen. Ich fürchte, Du hast das Prinzip von deviantART mißverstanden - hier darf man tatsächlich nur Dinge hochladen, die man 100%ig von null erschaffen hat. Du siehst ja die Reaktionen und wie aufgebracht die Leute sind. Es wäre das beste, den Inhalt deiner jetzigen Gallery zu löschen, bevor das die Admins für dich machen und Du dir eventuell deswegen einen Bann einhandelst, dich zu entschuldigen und dann mit eigenen Zeichnungen weiterzumachen. Komm auch nicht in die Versuchung, welche zu kopieren, das wird für gewöhnlich sehr schnell gemerkt und bringt einen schlechten Ruf.

After taking more time and viewing the rest of the work in your gallery I was very dissapointed to find that you haven't created these works of art at all!! I was very excited when I thought they were yours since I hadn't seen them before but now it is obvious you have stolen them. You haven't even bothered to remove the real artists signatures from some of them. That is pretty sad. I recommend you delete the art you've stolen from your gallery and upload your own. I will report you.
